We know lime

Since 1998 the Company has been using modern, environmentally friendly technology to calcine the limestone, which is mined on the premises. It is an open-cast mine. There are sufficient deposits of calcium carbonate to ensure supplies for the next 300 years.

In 2001 new rotating horizontal kilns were constructed for the calcining of limestone with a hydration plant which entered production during June 2008.

To continue serving our customers who demand high quality agricultural lime, building lime, water purification and stabilization lime, roadmaking lime and other lime products such as Concrim waterproofing lime, further expansions are planned: an additional 6 rotating horizontal kilns will be constructed and commissioned in phases. Completion is scheduled for 2021.

Lesedi Educare Centre is an initiative of P&B Lime Works. Situated in the Zwelitsha township, adjacent to our premises, the facility takes care of as many as 100 children in four classrooms. It has a kitchen, sufficient toilets an office and a first aid room.

P&B was responsible for the construction of the building, in 2012. P & B Lime Works saw the need in the community for a proper child care centre and with the Cape Agulhas Municipality selected Lesedi Educare as our local economical development project. The initiative forms part of our social and labour plan.

We are very proud to be associated with this community project.
